Eliminate Unwanted Fat with Liposuction

Liposuction is one of the most popular procedures in Oklahoma City and the entire United States. The surgery can slim down localized areas of your body or assist in procedures such as male breast reduction, tummy tuck, and neck contouring.

At Lowe Plastic Surgery we offer liposuction as a single procedure or in combination with other body-contouring techniques.

When to Undergo Liposuction in Oklahoma City

Liposuction is not a weight loss method, but a surgical procedure for body shaping and fat removal. If you are bothered by persistent (difficult to remove) fat, liposuction may be right for you.

The best candidates have adequate skin tone a stable body weight. Obese patients are not considered suitable candidates for liposuction.

During liposuction, we can sculpt body areas such as:

  • Abdomen
  • Arms
  • Back
  • Buttocks
  • Chest
  • Flanks
  • Neck
  • Thighs

Liposuction can be used in a variety of different ways. If you're wondering about the different liposuction options, feel free to email our Oklahoma City office with your questions.

How long does liposuction take?

Liposuction will require 45 minutes to two hours, depending on the extent of the procedure.

How does liposuction work?

A general anesthetic is used in large volume fat removal and local anesthesia for limited procedures. Small incisions are made near the specified areas. A tumescent solution infiltrates the fatty tissue, which minimizes blood loss and discomfort, while lidocaine and epinephrine promote comfort and ease of the procedure. With a narrow tube, the doctor removes the fat with suction. If necessary, bodily fluids that are lost during surgery can be replaced intravenously.

What happens after liposuction?

After liposuction, a small drainage tube is placed beneath the skin to help prevent fluid build-up. A supportive garment will help control swelling and help your skin contract to its new shape.

You won't look or feel perfect after liposuction. Expect some pain, burning, swelling, bleeding and temporary numbness. Pain can be managed with prescription medications, but you will likely feel stiff and sore for a few days.

Who performs the liposuction procedure?

Dr. James (Jim) Lowe can perform your liposuction. He is a board certified plastic surgeon who is native to Oklahoma. The doctors and staff share a commitment to clinical excellence, cutting-edge care, and lasting patient partnerships.
