Breast Reduction Can Restore Comfort and Confidence

Breast reduction is a procedure with both cosmetic and therapeutic benefits. While it helps to alleviate the discomfort of large breasts, it can also reshape them for a more youthful appearance.

When bothered by large breast size, women in Oklahoma City can turn to Lowe  Plastic Surgery for breast reduction. For the right candidates, we can also perform breast reduction in combination with a lift or augmentation.

When to Undergo Breast Reduction in Oklahoma City

The ideal candidates for breast reduction are those who are at a healthy, stable weight. Breast reduction is not recommended for smokers, so if you are considering the procedure, it is important that you quit smoking beforehand.

Women considering breast reduction are usually bothered by symptoms such as:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Skin rashes
  • Bra strap irritation

We can often treat these symptoms with a breast reduction procedure. After breast reduction, the patient will feel more comfortable, more confident and more satisfied with her physical appearance.

FAQ

How does it work?

The surgery is always customized for each patient. Dr. James (Jim) Lowe uses several different techniques. Before your breast reduction, Dr. Lowe will evaluate your healthy history, age, breast size, symptoms, body type and skin quality. Dr. Lowe can develop a tailored plan for your breast reduction surgery.

Surgery takes 2-4 hours under a general anesthetic. With a T-shaped or anchor shaped incision, the doctor removes excess fatty breast tissue using liposuction. Glandular tissue may also be removed and the breast skin can be tightened to elevate the breast position.

What happens after breast reduction?

After breast reduction, we will send you home with specific instructions to follow. You will probably be given a supportive bra to wear for several weeks as well as medications to help manage pain. It's common for patients to experience some swelling, aching and changes in skin sensation as they recover from breast reduction.

Where is breast reduction surgery performed?

Your surgery can be performed at Integris Baptist Medical Center, at a nearby outpatient surgical facility, or at the Associates Surgery Center, located near the doctors’ office. After surgery, you can recover at the surgery center, in the surgical ward at Integris Baptist Medical Center, or at any number of other overnight medical facilities.
