Dr. Lowe was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas graduating with a pre-medical focus with a B.A. in history. He attended The University of Oklahoma School of Medicine, graduating in 1992. He completed five years of training in General Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center in 1997 and is boarded by the American Board of Surgery. He completed the prestigious Plastic Surgery residency at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1999; and a hand, nerve, and microsurgical fellowship at The Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 2000.

After the completion of his training, Dr. Lowe joined the faculty at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and was promoted to Assistant Professor of Surgery. In 2002, he received a M.B.A. in Health Sciences Management at Washington University’s Olin School of Business. In 2004, Dr Lowe was awarded Chief of the section of Cosmetic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He has continued to be involved in resident education and his research has focused on peripheral nerve surgery, potency following prostatectomy, cosmetic surgery, ethnic aging, and optimizing health management and efficiency. Dr. Lowe currently serves on various boards and committees, and has presented many papers nationally.

In 2006, Dr. Lowe moved back home to Oklahoma City where he and his wife Julie, a Dermatologist, entered private practice. They have two wonderful children that are their pride and joy. Their practice, Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Associates, is a culmination of years of effort to establish a center of excellence for their combined specialties to maximize patient care. Meet Dr. Julie Lowe – Dermatologist

Dr. Julie Lowe was born in Houston and raised in Dallas, Texas. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, with a pre-medical focus. She then attended the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. After graduating in 1999, Dr. Lowe and her husband moved to Saint Louis, Missouri where she trained in Dermatology at Washington University School of Medicine. In addition to her residency training, Dr. Lowe completed a two year research fellowship with a focus on melanoma skin cancer. While a research fellow, she earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation from Washington University. Dr. Lowe completed her training in 2005 and is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.

At the completion of her training, Dr. Lowe joined the dermatology faculty at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Although she and her family loved Saint Louis, they decided to move to Oklahoma City to be closer to their families. Their two children immediately settled into being Oklahomans and are hoping to convert their Texan grandparents soon.

Dr. Julie Lowe and her husband, Dr. Jim Lowe, opened Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Associates, PLLC, in August of 2006. The Doctors Lowe strive to provide the best medical care possible in a warm and comforting environment. Dr. Lowe’s excellent office staff is committed to providing you with the highest level of patient care and service. Each member of Dr. Lowe’s staff was hand-picked because of their unique skills, abilities, and personal commitment to patient care. The combined experience of his staff exceeds 20 years in the field of medicine and each staff member feels a special and lasting bond with their patients.

Dr. Lowe’s patient coordinator will take charge of much of your care. She will assist you with insurance needs, scheduling your surgery, and answering clinical questions. She can provide a unique perspective of what you can expect both during and after each procedure. Her candid and warm approach is central to our core philosophy of always placing the “patient first.” She is available and will always do her best to keep you in touch and connected.

Dr. Lowe’s nurse coordinator is your direct link to excellent plastic surgery care. She is a highly motivated and skilled nurse with expertise in the area of plastic and reconstructive surgery. She has spent a significant amount of time shadowing Dr. Lowe in the clinic and truly understands what is important to him at every clinical level. She ensures that Dr Lowe’s medical protocols are followed, and she is available to check a wound or answer clinical questions.

The practice of Dr. James Lowe is built on the foundation of excellence in patient care. His medical staff is critical to his team approach for optimal patient management. This team approach ensures excellent patient care while maximizing the strengths of each team member. We all agree that the patient comes first and is the key component of the plastic surgery team. Dr. Lowe performs the majority of his elective procedures at his in-office surgical facility. His office is attached to the full-service Mercy Hospital with a medical specialist to meet any need. Mercy Hospital is the only hospital in Oklahoma to be awarded Magnet status. Only 2% of American hospitals win the prestigious Magnet Award which is accepted nationally as the gold standard in nursing excellence. The entire spectrum of patient care can be provided in very close proximity to Dr. Lowe’s office. Patients are evaluated for consultation at Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Associates on the 10th floor of Mercy Tower (the building with the cross on top).

Surgery can be performed in Dr. Lowe’s in-office operating suite, a nearby outpatient surgical facility, Integris Baptist Medical Center, or Mercy Health Center. After surgery, patients can recover in the adjacent surgical ward at Mercy Hospital or a number of other overnight medical facilities. Patient’s families can lodge at a discount at the gracious and up-scale La Quinta Inn located just up the street. Out-of-town patients often stay in the hotel several days after surgery, so that Dr. Lowe can make personal house calls if necessary. The Quail Springs Mall and shopping district is less than a mile away and includes a full array of dinning options as well as retail and discount stores. The convenience of this superb and intimate plastic surgery experience is balanced with a more-than-competitive price for different cosmetic surgical and non-surgical packages.
